A most successful coffee morning was held in the ABD Centre in Bacup yesterday when members of South Pennine Archaeology Group met local people keen to pass on their knowledge of and passion for their local area.

With a special emphasis on the Tunstead area and Waggoner Tunstead Farm (a Grade II * listed building) the coffee morning brought together members of the local photographic group, Tunstead residents and a retired schoolteacher all keen to discover more and to contribute to the project.

Project leader, Catherine Rousseau of Discover Archaeology, has this to say about the research being undertaken:

‘Discover Archaeology is excited to work with members of the South Pennine Archaeology Group on the investigation into the Tunstead area and Waggoners Tunstead Farm. Projects like this give all members of the community opportunities to take part in a wide range of archaeological and historical activities. Everyone is welcome.’
