Opened as weaving shed in 1861, its most successful period was 1870-1887 when John Thomas Lord was manager and dividends averaged 15% per annum! Weaving finished in 1930 and other textile manufacturing by 1986. The modern brick and glass extension was rebuilt after 1949.
The chimney is best viewed from Chapel Street.
