Erected in 1839, by 1878 it contained 8,400 looms but closed in 1881 as a result of a disputed will. Purchased by Thomas Barrowclough, it was again on the market by 1897. In 1905, the mill was converted to slipper manufacture, at which time it became the first local customer of the Radcliffe Power Station of Lancashire Electric Power.  The chimney has been truncated, the owner is believed to live abroad.
