Bridge Mill had five premises of which the building the chimney is attached to was  the office block.  A flue to the chimney passed under North Street from the boiler house on the other side of the road.  The chimney is heavily truncated whilst the building itself is now occupied by Whitworth Heritage Museum.  The museum is well worth a visit.
