WW2 Pillbox

Pillboxes were erected across the country to hamper enemy action in case of invasion.  This one is on the moors about one mile South of the B6214/Free Lane junction.  It’s location is well suited to protect the road but it also has extensive views across the valley.

It appears to be made of  concrete in a hexagonal design and could have been used as a machine gun post.  Almost certainly it is a Type 22 or FW3/22 which is the most common design.
