This concrete post can be found near the River Irwell at Chatterton and appears to act as a warning that there is a buried pipe belonging to the Irwell Valley Water Board (IVWB).  Whether for clean water or sewage is not clear but walking from Chatterton towards Irwell Vale a steel pipe crosses the river.  Is this the same one?
