When is a chimney not a chimney? All that remains of this once proud chimney is the architecturally-impressive base, the chimney itself having been demolished in 1889. Sunnyside Printworks was one of the largest in north-east Lancashire on the land now occupied by Crawshaw Grange housing estate. The chimney is in the grounds of Crawhaw Hall, built by one of the Brooks family in 1830/31.

Note – the closest public access is by walking along Hugh Rake but be careful if you do so, particularly in Summer when it is covered in Himalayan Balsam, obscuring the very uneven and slippery surface.
