Hardman Mill Rawtenstall

Hardman’s Mill

Newhall Hey, Rawtenstall

BB4 5HR

After two previous mills were destroyed by fire, the current building was erected in 1862/3 and is now used as business centre. The mill was steam-powered until the late 1940s when electricity was installed to run the machinery.

An attempt to demolish the mill’s landmark chimney, supported by Rossendale Borough Council, was fortunately defeated and in 1980, Lancashire Enterprises Ltd. acquired the site. It is currently owned by Hurstwood Holdings Ltd.
